KEY VERSE:
“This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise” (ISAIAH 43:21).
Young Carol had been attending Sunday School in a local Church for a while. One day, she came to her mother after service and asked, “Mom, why did God create Uncle Tim when He knew he’d be so troublesome and won’t go to Church? Why?” The mother could not answer her convincingly. The question of the reasons for man’s existence did not start with the little girl and will not end with her innocent query.
But today’s text answers the question of God’s purpose in creating man for those who are sincerely searching for an honest answer. The Scripture emphatically affirms that God made us for His glory, to show forth His praise. But what does this mean to you? It means you cannot just live your life the way you like. It means you are holding your life in trust to the One who created you. Have you considered the beauty of creation and see that the entire creation, animate and inanimate, is to display God’s glory? “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1). He created all things, and for His pleasure they are and were created (Revelation 4:11).*
When the first Adam fell through sin, it seemed as if Satan had defeated God’s purpose. But God’s original intention for man has been restored through the second Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to activate and fulfil God’s great redemption plan.
But the big question is, are you fulfilling the purpose God created and redeemed you? You are here to fulfil a divine purpose. Therefore, identify and align yourself with that plan; pursue the purpose for living and live only to the glory of God. That is the secret of lifelong fulfilment here and hereafter.
